Budgeting Your Money

The number one thing you need to do to stay out of debt is to make a budget. Every time you get money, you should make a budget. Most people get money at regular intervals whether it’s once every two weeks, once a month, or once a week. You should make sure you don’t spend any of your money until you make out a budget first.

The first thing you should do is make out a list of the things you need to pay for such as rent, gas, food, and other stuff that is vitally important. Estimate how much you will need for each item and write down all the amounts. Add all your expenses up and subtract it from your paycheck. If you get a negative number, you are spending too much. Most of the time, you can’t just cut something out. Instead of cutting something out, look it all over and see if there is anything you can spend less on. For example, if you are spending over $100 a week on groceries and you live alone, you may want to cut back on that. If you have money left over, try to split the money into saving and spending money.

Try to put a little bit of money into savings every time you have money left over. You never know when you might have a financial emergency. First put money into savings and then whatever money you have left over, you can use for spending.

To make sure you are not spending any money that is not your spending money, it is a good idea to put it all in the bank. Try to use cash instead of cards. It is much easier to keep track of cash than if you are using a card. Over time, it will be easier to make and keep a budget. Keeping a budget will save you money and keep you living comfortably and you will stay within your means.
