Paying Your Bills On Time

If you pay all your bills on time, you will avoid any late fees and interest charges. You will save a ton of money by just paying your bills on time. Always keep your finances in order. Here are a few steps you can follow to help you stay on track.

Have a special place to put all your bills in when they arrive such as a drawer or folder. As soon as you get them, open them and put them in that place. Plan out a time twice a month (usually the middle and end of each month) to pay your bills. Have these times two weeks apart. Call the companies that send you the bills and ask them to change your due date to one of these times. Always keep on schedule and mark your calendar so you don’t forget.

Only pay your bills with checks or money orders. Each time you pay a bill, mark down all the information. The check number, the date, and the amount you paid and keep the receipt. Mail your envelopes immediately. So you don’t forget them, try setting them next to your keys.

There are some companies that change their due dates. So you will always want to check these ones. Usually, utility and phone companies are more flexible than other companies. They will wait a few days before they charge you a late fee. Most other companies are stricter. Never wait until you get a second notice. Always be putting money aside for your bills. A lot of banks will also arrange bill payments to automatically come out of your checking account. If you do this, make sure you are keeping track of all your payments.
